Killurly West holds a collapsed stone hut on the lower slopes of Knocknadobar, its circular wall reduced to a cairn yet still showing corbelled joints at the southeast and north. The structure measures 4.4 metres across and rises 1.2 metres, small enough for one person to shelter inside during a mountain storm. It may have been a temporary refuge for a herder, a trapper or a traveller lost in fog. The stones remain stacked with intent, waiting for someone to imagine the heat, darkness and breath that once filled them.
