Hut site in Foilakilly

In rough hill pasture, on a NE-SW terrace on the NW-facing slopes of Gouladane overlooking Bantry Bay. The remains of a circular hut site (4.9m N-S; 4.75 E-W) defined by a jumbled stone wall (T 0.55m; H 0.3m) which protrudes from a low bank, especially along the S arc. The interior is raised (H 0.2m) above ground level. The hut site may have been used in more recent times as a turf stand for stacking dry turf. There are many such turf stands on this hillside.
