Hut site in Duagh (corkaguiny By.)

Hut site

What is recorded here

Duagh, County Kerry: A stone-walled oval, 7.7m wide, holds a smaller circular hut against its west end. The enclosure faces north across Tralee Bay, half-hidden by bracken but still intact. Someone shaped that terrace for shelter, perhaps watching weather or keeping animals close. The bay still gives the place its reason for existing.
Situated in rough grazing land, on natural terrace on N-facing slope overlooking Tralee Bay, hut site (KE036-117----) 18m to SE. Partially obscured by bracken and briars but otherwise intact. An oval shaped area (ext. dims. 6.6m N-S x 7.7m E-W), orientated east-west, enclosed by a stone wall with an earth matrix (Wth c. 0.6m; H c. 0.8m). Within the interior and against the W end is a small, circular hut site (diam. c. 2.4m) with an entrance (Wth 0.6m) to SE.
