Hut site in Ballymakellett

Hut site

What is recorded here

Ballymakellett in County Louth holds one of three conjoined hut sites at the exact centre of a ringfort. The cluster suggests a busy domestic heart rather than a lonely shelter, perhaps belonging to a family or a small group who lived beneath the fort's defences. They may have cooked, argued, loved and raised children inside those wooden walls while the wider world passed by.
