Ballymakellett preserves one of three conjoined hut sites inside a ringfort, proving the stronghold contained a small domestic cluster rather than a single isolated dwelling. The huts likely sheltered family life, tool making and shared meals while the surrounding earthwork watched for danger. Their conjoined layout suggests intimacy and practicality, with smoke, laughter and ordinary routine filling the centre of the fort.
