Situated on a slight natural rise surrounded by marshy land which is liable to flooding. Bog land 465m to the S, stream marking boundary with Longford County 260m to W. Ringfort (WM005-011----) 45m to NNE, ringfort (WM005-013---) 200m to E, ringfort (WM005-015----) 100m to S. Depicted as a small circular-shaped earthwork on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. Annotated as 'Moat' on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map. No surface remains visible. Described in 1972 as a small circular-shaped area (approx. diam. c. 7m) defined by a grass covered earth and stone bank with internal stone facing standing one course high, with faint traces of an external fosse. A gap (Wth 2.1m) at NE represents the entrance, which opens towards the nearby ringfort (WM005-011---).
