What is recorded here

Two shallow stone rings sit twenty metres apart on the south slope of Sea Hill, facing the water and the old fort at Bull's Head. They are small enough for one person to span with outstretched arms, yet deep enough to hold a bed, a fire and a week of weather. The bay fills half the sky from that spot, and the fort stands like a witness on the headland. Whoever built them did not hide from the sea or the watchtower. They placed their lives between them, perhaps watching for boats, perhaps watching for people returning from the water.
