What is recorded here
Attached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1900, having lean-to addition to rear (east). Formerly also in use as shop, currently vacant. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and uPVC rainwater goods. Rendered walls with channelled quoins to front and side (north) elevations, exposed rubble stone wall to rear elevation. Raise render sill band to first floor, with render string course to impost level of ground floor openings. Square-headed window openings with render sills throughout, having rendered surrounds to front elevation, one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows to first floor of front elevation and remains of two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows to rear elevation. Square-headed display window to front elevation with fixed single-pane timber-framed window. Square-headed carriageway opening to front elevation having double-leaf timber battened door. Square-headed door opening to central bay of front elevation having timber battened door. Set back from road with recent block wall to front of site.
Together with the adjoining house, this building adds interest to the village streetscape. It is a reminder of mixed commercial and domestic use of buildings which was once common but is now becoming increasingly rare. The retention of key features such as sash windows and render detail enhances its character and charm.
