House

Indicated as a simple end-gabled house with a door on a long wall and two attic windows on the visible gable on the Down Survey (1655-6) parish map of ‘Killmodimoge’(Hibernia Regnum, courtesy of Trinity College Dublin). In the accompanying terrier, the proprietor of ‘Killmodimoge’ in 1640 is listed as ‘Garrett Blanchvile I[rish] Pa[pist]’ and properties within the townland include, ‘some Cabbins’ (ibid.). The boundary of the townland of Kilmademoge has changed since the 17th century and would formerly have included the area now occupied by Knocknew townland, where the house is indicated. This, and the 'cabbins', are unlocated within the townland.
