What is recorded here

The remains of a house were uncovered during an archaeological excavation and consisted of a shallow foundation trench, enclosing an area 15m E-W by c. 7.5m N-S. Also uncovered were the remains of a central hearth and a number of internal post-holes. One sherd of medieval pottery (13th-14th century), a whetstone and a decorated rotary quernstone were recovered from the house. It was located immediately south of a small kiln (CO044-075----). A similar house (CO044-092----) was discovered 28m to the N. (Quinn 2006a; 2006b) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
