Terraced three-bay three-storey former house, built c.1840, shopfront inserted to ground floor, in use as public house. Pitched slate roof, terracotta ridge-comb tiles, and pair of tall rendered chimneystacks with rendered cornice and clay pots. Ogee cast-iron rainwater goods. Render removed from front elevation except vermiculated and rusticated rendered quoins, copied from former gaol, continuous sill course to both upper floors with rendered platband below second floor windows having vermiculated rendered panels below each window. Rubblestone walling to ground and first floors, brick surround to all openings, painted limestone ashlar plinth course, yellow brick walling to second floor laid in English garden bond. Segmental-headed window openings, architrave surrounds with vermiculated keystones, single-pane timber sash windows with ogee horns to first floor, uPVC to second floor. Glazed timber shopfront inserted c. 2000 with timber fascia, further square-headed door opening to west with replacement glazed timber door and original limestone step opening onto street. Ground floor flanked by timber pilasters and scrolled brackets c. 2000.

A substantial former town house. Although the removal of its render finish has compromised the integrity of the façade, it has retained its unique decorative render details to quoins and window surrounds. Its prominent location directly opposite the Court House makes it a landmark structure on the streetscape. As an integral part of the urban fabric terminating the vista from Church Street, it enhances the special character and architectural landscape of the historic town core.
