In the west half of a Mayo rath, a circular house stood with a three-and-a-half-metre diameter, its foundation trench holding charcoal from burnt timbers. Dated between 200 BC and AD 140, it belonged to the Iron Age and sat beside two similar structures to the north and east. The rath contained at least three small dwelling places, suggesting a compact settlement rather than a lonely cabin.

Located in the W half of a rath (MA071-042----). This house was fully excavated in 1992-3 during excavation (92E0152) of the rath in advance of the construction of the N5 Swinford by-pass (Walsh 1995, 7-8). It consisted of a circular structure (diam. c. 3.5) defined by a foundation trench. No occupation surface survived but charcoal found in the foundation trench appeared to represent the burnt remains of structural timbers. Radiocarbon analysis of the charcoal produced an Iron Age date: 200 cal. BC–cal. AD 140. Two similar circular houses (MA071-042001-; MA071-042003-) were located immediately to N and E, respectively.
