House

House, indeterminate date

What is recorded here

Just off the summit of a small hillock in undulating grassland, some 100m SSW of a ringfort (GA042-168----). A small subcircular enclosure (N-S 7m), in fair condition, defined by a bank of earth and stone (H 0.2-0.45m int.) A gap at N appears modern. Probably a house, but the possibility of it being a barrow cannot be totally ruled out. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
