Detached six-bay single-storey house, c.1870, retaining original fenestration. Renovated, c.1895, with two-bay single-storey flat-roofed projecting lower porch added to front. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks, rendered coping, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves with sections of replacement uPVC rainwater goods, c.1995. Flat roof to porch not visible behind parapet. Painted rendered walls with moulded rendered cornice to porch having profiled cresting over with ball finials to corners. Square-headed window openings with rendered sills (forming sill course to porch). 1/1 timber sash windows with timber casement windows to porch. Square-headed door opening with glazed timber panelled door. Set back from line of road with unpainted rendered boundary wall to forecourt having unpainted rendered intermediary piers, wrought iron railings, and wrought iron gate.
An appealing modest-scale house of balanced proportions, which retains its early form and fabric. The house is distinguished by the attractive porch incorporating decorative rendered detailing, particularly to the parapet. The house contributes significantly to the streetscape value of College Road, the wrought iron gate and railings to the forecourt enhancing the visual appeal of the site.
