Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1790, having one-bay two-storey return and flat-roof porch to rear. Pitched slate roof having decorative terracotta ridge tiles and rendered chimneystacks with decorative recessed panels, and some cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls, with roughcast rendered walls to rear. Square-headed timber sliding sash windows throughout, four-over-pane tp east gable and one-over-one pane elsewhere, some doubled to ground floor rear, some having limestone sills and some rendered sills, one rear window barred. Square-headed front door opening having timber panelled door, overlight and two rendered steps. Square-headed timber battened door to rear porch. Single-bay single-storey with loft outbuilding to west gable and multiple-bay single-storey outbuildings to wouth-west at right angles, with pitched slate roofs and rendered walls, square-headed door openings with timber battened doors. Door to upper floor of lofted building has rendered steps. Detached two-pile multiple-bay single-storey outbuilding to north-west, with pitched corrugated-iron M-profile roof, coursed limestone and sandstone rubble and rendered walls, brick loops and elliptical brick arched entrance to gable, with double-leaf wrought-iron gate. Wrought-iron gate to south-west of house. Square-profile rendered piers to road having double-leaf wrought-iron gates.

This turn-of-the-nineteenth-century house retains much of its original form and character, enhanced by the retention of much of its original detailing. The building's symmetrical proportions are reflected in the symmetrical layout of the outbuildings, with a range flanking either side of the front elevation. The group, comprising outbuildings, house and gates, forms an interesting focal point in the landscape and townscape of Castlelyons.
