What is recorded here
In Montiaghs, a forgotten horizontal mill waited for hands that never returned. It may have broken stones, ground grain or simply marked the edge of human patience. The land kept its shape while memory thinned, leaving a hole where a useful thing once stood.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as HORIZONTAL MILL (O.S. memoir site, unlocated). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
