What is recorded here

Five cairns circle a nameless stream in Moyagh, where walkers still pray a decade for each stone at two seasons of the year. The well has lost its name and perhaps its exact place, but the repeated prayer suggests it kept something alive: water, memory, or a promise made before roads and surveys. What is missing is not empty. It is waiting to be recognised.

OS 36 (Precise location not known) 58. There is some confusion regarding the location of Ó Muirgheasa No. 66. It proved impossible to discover the location of this holy well. Described by Ó Muirgheasa in 1936 as 'There is a Holy Well, now nameless, in Moyagh, two miles from Milford, and near Tullybeg N. S. Stations are still made there, but only at two seasons of the year, namely, the last Sunday in April or first and second Sunday in May, and the last Sunday in July or first Sunday in August. There are five cairns near the stream, and a decade of the Rosary is said going round each cairn in making the turus' (Ó Muirgheasa 1936, 154). This holy well may be located in the townland of Oghill or the townland of Tullybeg. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
