Unlocated holy well within the townlands of Moneystown Hill/North/South. According to Lynch (1994, 640) there is a holy well known as ‘St Kevin’s Well’ in the townland of Moneystown that is mentioned in the 1930s Irish Folklore Commission, Schools Manuscript Collection (IFC S 918: 71). The folklore manuscripts recorded the tradition that ‘it was said that St Kevin drank from this well’ (Lynch 1994, 640). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 22 January 2013

St Kevin’s Well in Moneystown is associated with St Kevin of Glendalough, a 6th-century Irish monk and founder of the important monastic site in County Wicklow. The well was historically visited for its supposed healing properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and general health, and may have been a site of seasonal pilgrimage or ritual.
