Holy well in Monaglogh

Unlocated holy well within the townland of Monaglogh. According to Lynch (1994, 638) there is a holy well dedicated to St Patrick in the townland of Monaglogh that is mentioned in the 1930s Irish Folklore Commission, Schools Manuscript Collection (IFC S 923: 36). The folklore manuscripts recorded that there was a ‘well in the townland of Monaglogh said to have been blessed by St Patrick. Dedicated to St Patrick, the holy well in Monaglogh was recorded in folklore collections from the 1930s and is associated with traditional healing practices and pilgrimages. Local tradition suggests the well was visited for its curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and general wellness.
