You can still picture the Abbey Well near Drumboe Monastery, though no marker remains to prove the line between memory and invention. Water may have filled that hole for centuries, drinking rain and returning it clean while people drank from it during fever, birth or ordinary hunger. The monastery is gone, but the well may have kept its shape because the body remembers more than stone does.

Unlocated holy well within the townland of Drumboe Lower and located close to the site of Drumboe Monastery (DG078-005----). Listed by Ó Muirgheasa in 1936 as well no. 76 and described as, ''The "Abbey Well" is still pointed out near the site of Drumboe Monastery (DG078-005----) (Ó Muirgheasa 1936, 155). Linked to Drumboe Monastery, the holy well is traditionally associated with Saint Cianán, an early Irish monk and founder of the monastery in the 6th century. Locally, the well was historically visited for its supposed healing properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin.
