St Brigid's well stood in a triangular pasture enclosure on a southeast-facing slope in Derreenkealig, County Cork. Myler recorded its small round chamber and rectangular flag roof before people removed it entirely. The water is gone, the stone is gone, and even the hole has vanished from the grass. What remains is only the direction of its entrance and the certainty that St Brigid still owns that forgotten patch of earth.

In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. Myler (1998, 101) recorded a small round well with a rectangular flag roof, known locally as St Brigid's well. It was within a small triangular enclosure and its entrance faced SE (ibid.). The well was removed shortly after it was recorded by Myler and there are no visible remains of it. Linked to St Brigid, the well is associated with traditional healing practices and is often visited on her feast day, 1 February. Local folklore suggests that the water was particularly efficacious for curing eye ailments and ensuring good fortune in the coming year.
