Holy well in Ballyknockan (talbotstown Lower By.)

According to Lynch (1994, 643) there is a holy well in the townland of Ballyknockan that is mentioned in the 1930s Irish Folklore Commission, Schools Manuscript Collection (IFC S 917: 22; IFC 654: 95). Linked to Saint Brigid, the holy well in Ballyknockan was traditionally visited for its healing properties, particularly for ailments related to the eyes and fertility. The site features a small stone cist and was recorded in early 20th-century folklore collections as a place of local veneration and ritual.
