Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Hms Assurance as Steam Tug (period Unassigned)-(1941). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

HMS *Assurance* was a steam tug built in the mid-19th century and later used by the Royal Navy. It was lost in 1941 during World War II, likely due to enemy action or mine clearance operations; no lives were lost, and its wreck remains a notable example of wartime naval auxiliary vessels in Scottish waters.
