Hier Well

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Hier Well as Holy Well (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Hier Well is traditionally associated with Saint Hier, a 7th-century Irish monk and missionary who is said to have founded a monastery in Galloway, Scotland. The well is linked to local folklore concerning healing and protection, with historical accounts suggesting it was used for ritual washing and as a site of pilgrimage.
