Heywood House in Haywood Demesne gives its little gate lodge a gateway with two battlemented turrets. You’d arrive to visit a cousin and find yourself wondering how many men you should have brought.

Detached single-storey Georgian gate lodge, c. 1810. Extended, c. 1985. Gateway, c. 1810, to site with pair of flanking turrets having castellations.
