According to O’Hare (1996, 64), some stones near Toberflyn holy well [KE022-023----] were ‘said to be the ruins of St. Flann's hermitage'.

The hermitage is associated with St. Flann, a lesser-known early Irish saint, and reflects a tradition of solitary religious retreats linked to holy wells in the region. Such sites were often places of prayer and pilgrimage, with local folklore attributing healing properties to nearby wells like Toberflyn.
