Hachrued

Situated on a slight but prominent rise in hilly grassland, with good views of the surrounding hills. Ringfort (WM012-106---) 200m to NW. A circular shaped area (approx. diam. 20m N-S) enclosed by two earthen banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is substantial and is best preserved from ENE-S-WNW. The fosse is wide and deep, and has been levelled at WNW and SW. The outer bank of earth and stone is low and poorly preserved. There is an entrance gap (Wth 2.6m) and causeway (2.3m; H 0.6m) across the fosse at NE. The interior is level, except where it slopes towards the entrance. A field fence running NW-SE cuts across the fosse and outer bank from SW-W. Outline of monument clearly visible on aerial photographs taken 1968 (CUCAP AVO059-060).
