Beaker pottery, hearths and post-holes circle the Newgrange mound, yet no house plan has ever emerged. People lived beside the tomb for a time, cooking and working in places now lost beneath grass and memory. The mound watched while ordinary life flickered around it, leaving jars and scars but refusing to show its walls.

Beaker pottery and associated wares found in association with hearths, pits and post-holes around the mound of passage-tomb (ME019-045----) but no recognisable house plans recovered (O'Kelly 1978, 118; O'Kelly et. al. 1983) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987).
