Habitation site in Lahesseragh (nenagh Par.)

Located on the eastern side of the Ballycahill ridge, c.3.2km W of Nenagh and c.300m E of a possible Bronze Age house (TN020-136). The site enjoys commanding views to the W and S and Lough Derg can be seen to the NW. A settlement site, measuring c.40m x 30m, uncovered during monitoring/testing in advance of Nenagh Bypass with outcrops of bedrock over the surface (O'Brien 2000, 196). The site consisted of 50-60 randomly placed posts/pits, a short linear feature (L c.10m; Wth 0.4m) and two hearths/fire spots (ibid.). A subrectangular structure was formed by 10-12 of these post-holes (ibid.).
