Medieval kitchen refuse in Ardnehue, County Carlow, waiting under soil since people stopped chipping bones and tossing them away. Nineteenth-century digging pulled that ordinary trash into light, proving the area lived quietly before records arrived. Forgetting is common; remembering is rare, and this is one of the rare ones.
