Gateway, c.1845, comprising pair of cut-sandstone cylindrical piers with friezes, projecting cornices, cut-stone capping, decorative cast-iron double gates, decorative cast-iron flanking pedestrian gates, cut-sandstone panelled outer piers having friezes, inscribed projecting cornices, cut-stone capping, sandstone ashlar curved flanking walls, cut-sandstone panelled terminating piers with cut-stone capping, and sections of random rubble stone boundary wall to perimeter of site. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Gurteen Le Poer.

A well-composed formal gateway, built to designs prepared by Charles Frederick Anderson (b. 1802, ret. 1866), as indicated by an inscription to the cornice of one pier. The variety of profiles and decorative treatment to the piers enhances the design quality of the composition, while the cast-iron gates are also of some artistic merit. The gateway, together with the attendant gate lodge (22900203/WD-02-03), forms an attractive landmark in the locality.
