Greenish Island

Thirty-seven metres of curved earth and stone still hold the southern tip of Greenish Island, shaping a quiet D where the River Deel joins the Shannon. The bank turns pasture into a fortress because the sea already builds the other three walls. A larger enclosure waits eighty-five metres north, suggesting the island once belonged to someone bold enough to live between rivers, tides and memory.
