What is recorded here

Relig na Mban, the Women's Graveyard, still holds Carrickmore under its ancient name. The official record refuses a date but grants the place state protection, acknowledging that female death and memory belong there before any human law. Women may have laid themselves down beneath that ground during centuries no longer spoken, their bones becoming the quiet foundation of the town. The graveyard does not need a visible cross or a written date because the name itself is the marker.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as GRAVEYARD: RELIGNAMAN or RELICKNAMAN from RELIG NA MBAN The Women's' Graveyard. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. Recorded protection: State Care and Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
