What is recorded here

Kilcandra holds a buried church and the graves of Mac Dermot's castle dependants beneath a quiet SE-facing slope. The peasantry kept that memory alive long after stone and marker disappeared from sight. What is missing on the surface is not absence; it is the kind of place that stops asserting itself and waits to be remembered.

On a small level break on a marked SE-facing slope. According to the OS Letters 'the peasantry assert that this (WI031-001001-) contained an old Church (WI031-001----) and was the burying place of the family and dependants of Mac Dermot's castle; it certainly does exhibit the remains of broken old graves internally' (O'Flanagan 1928, 120-21).
