Carrigcleena More hides a lost graveyard and church inside an ordinary field, preserving death and worship beneath grass rather than stone. People walked past the mounds for generations, perhaps forgetting the dead buried below or perhaps leaving them alone on purpose. The site resists identification because it refuses to perform as history; it waits patient under soil, waiting for someone to stop treating the field as empty.

Bowman (1934, 569) recorded burial ground and church site (CO041-129002-) in E. Butler's land where 'Grass-covered mounds in centre of field, mark the site.' Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
