Graveyard in Ballykeroge Big,ballykeroge Little

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Commins' little graveyard, Cillínidhe, vanished from Ballykeroge before anyone measured its edges or marked its last grave. It may have been a shallow ditch, a row of stones or a forgotten field edge, but the name preserved the fact that Commins belonged there and death was ordinary in that household. The loss is not emptiness. It is a jar without a label, keeping its shape but refusing to show what it contains.
According to Power (1952, 149-50) there was a graveyard known as Cillínidhe - Commins' little graveyard, at Ballykeroge. It remains unlocated. Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 26th April, 2011.
