John O'Donovan recorded a 17th century graveslab c. 1837 (O'Flanagan 1931, 2, 54-5) which was recently re-discovered by Gary Dempsey on the N side of Teach Dorcha (RO024-016003-). It is rectangular (max. dims 1.11m x 0.52m; T 9cm) with the top corners cut off and decorated in false relief. This includes a cross, an 'IHS', a hammer and perhaps a cock. There is a fragmentary inscription commemorating John Coly and another with the date 1666, although the first digit has been removed. 17th-century Christian graveslab; significant as a rare surviving example of early modern funerary monument in the region.

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
