Graveslab in Holycross

One of six graveslabs (TN047-030009-014) located on S side of cloister of Cistercian abbey (TN047-030001) at Holycross. Number 6 in D. Maher's catalogue of Medieval Grave Slabs of County Tipperary 1200 - 1600 A.D. for Holycross Abbey. Tapered slab (Overall L 1.84m; Top Wth 0.50m ; Base Wth 0.40m ; T 0.12m) in two portions: all of its edges are chamfered and measure 0.04m wide. Situated inside the S wall of the Cloister. Poorly preserved slab the surface of which is covered in lichen and heavily worn, decorated with an eight-armed fleur-de-lis cross carved in relief, terminating in a stepped base. The middle foil of the lower vertical arm joins up with the shaft, and a knop occurs further down the shaft carved in low relief. No inscription visible. Current location of grave slab unknown.
