What is recorded here
Graveslab in Glebe lies in the roofless sacristy of Clonfert Cathedral, a broken strip of medieval limestone still bearing a cross and half a flower. The sacristy has lost its roof, but the slab has kept its shape, tapering slightly as if pulled downward by time. It is not a complete monument, yet the surviving cross and floral mark suggest a careful maker and a buried person worthy of remembrance.
Located in the now roofless sacristy of Clonfert Cathedral (GA101-017001-). Described by Higgins (1987, ii, 344, no. 69) as part of large recumbent limestone graveslab with tapering sides and of medieval form. The surviving section (L 1.42m; Wth at top 0.48m; Wth at base 0.37m; T 0.12m) bears the two-line shaft of a cross with a D-shaped terminal at its base. The latter is decorated with floral pattern, half a rosette or palmette. (Crawford 1913, 153c)
