Graveslab in Aghanagh

In the ruin of the late medieval parish church of Aghanagh. An inscribed 17th-century graveslab serves as a blocking slab for a burial vault which abuts the E end of the S wall of the medieval parish church of Aghanagh (SL040-171001-). The graveslab bears the coat of arms of the Hughes family. The inscription is difficult to read but was recorded by Wood-Martin (1882, 206, n. 1) as follows: 'Here lyeth the body of Winefred Hughes wife to Captain Henry Hughes who deceased the 1st (?) day of March Anno Domini 1609. Here lyeth the body of Captain...'. The date on the inscription appears to be '1659' rather than '1609' as recorded by Wood-Martin.
