Grave Yard

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

One chamber holds a child who died at two years old. The other chamber holds no name at all, only a line of small stones beside the church. That difference is not a mistake. It is the shape of the place: a world where love and loss can both exist inside the same room.
On a SW-facing slope in grassland. This overgrown rectangular children's burial ground (L 7.5m; Wth 6.6m) is defined by a stone wall. Within the interior numerous set stones indicate graves. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 4 September 2019
