What is recorded here

On a gentle W-facing slope of ridge, in rolling pasture. Loughlohery medieval church (TS082-003----) is roughly centrally placed within a fairly rectangular graveyard (dims. 27m N-S; 50m E-W). The graveyard has a very manicured appearance with very few headstones. The stone wall around the graveyard has been crudely pointed in places. Headstones date to the late 18th and early 19h centuries, the earliest visible dates to 1790. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 20 January 2014
Medieval Christian cemetery; associated with a 15th- to 16th-century church. Its significance lies in its association with the medieval ecclesiastical site of Loughlohery and as a rare surviving example of a defined early Christian or medieval graveyard layout in the region.
