Fulacht fia in Ballintemple (clonlisk By.)Fulacht fia · 236 yd

Explorer Tom Fulacht fia in Ballintemple is proud of its burnt mound status, even if it looks like a big pile of charcoal. It was used for boiling meat or maybe just making a mess, and it’s still doing that job. The flat land around it is perfect for getting stuck in the mud. A proper spot for a flask of tea and a big think.

Ballintemple HouseCountry house · 348 yd

Explorer Tom Ballintemple House in County Offaly is showing off its Georgian muscles, standing tall and proud like it owns every inch of that mature landscape around it. It’s got this towering presence that makes you feel small, which is exactly what it wants when you’re walking past on a cloudy day. The sash windows are staring right at you, judging your footwear choices as you approach the property boundary.

Templeharry RectoryRectory/glebe/vicarage/curate's house · 591 yd

Explorer Tom Templeharry Rectory in Ballintemple does weird stuff when nobody's looking, like rearranging its own pantiles. The projecting central bay is just it showing off its silhouette. Bring the dog, it'll howl at the hipped roof.

Templeharry ChurchChurch/chapel · 650 yd

Explorer Tom Templeharry Church has a tower so square it’s practically offended by circles. The pinnacles are trying to look tall, but the lattice windows are showing off harder than anyone should. Pretend it's yours and play air guitar by the porch.

Thomas MacDonagh Heritage CentreMuseum · 2.6 mi

Explorer Tom Thomas MacDonagh Heritage Centre nearly got famous for having the best tea service in Tipperary, but poetry got in the way. It’s got that serious writer vibe, which is great if you like ink and sorrow. Stop the car, it's worth the hazard lights and the existential crisis.

MacDonagh HouseMemorial · 2.6 mi

Explorer Tom MacDonagh House Memorial in County Tipperary was nearly sold for a horse trade during one of its many dramatic down moments. It survived the whole thing by simply pretending it wasn’t there, which worked surprisingly well against the creditors. Hum something sad nearby, it adds atmosphere.

Knockanacree WoodForest · 3.3 mi

Explorer Tom Knockanacree Wood in County Tipperary was home to a fiddler who played all night until the trees started dancing, which is why they are so crooked now. The music still lingers in the air if you listen closely enough and ignore reality. Bring the dog, it'll have opinions.

Knockane CastleCastle · 3.8 mi

Explorer Tom Knockane Castle in County Tipperary refuses to fall down purely out of spite, likely because it knows you’re watching and expects better manners from a five-storey tower house. It stands there off the N7 like a stubborn grandparent who won’t admit they need help moving house. The missing bartizan on one corner is just its way of showing off that it doesn’t need symmetry to look good. Find the date

Kyleroe WoodWood · 3.8 mi

Explorer Tom Kyleroe Wood in County Tipperary would have made Saint Patrick laugh until he cried because the snakes were hiding behind the trunks and refusing to leave. It is basically just a wood that has seen too much religious history and wants a nap. Ring your granny and tell her where you are.

BenduffMountain / peak · 4.7 mi

Explorer Tom Benduff in County Tipperary would say in a job interview that it has excellent stability and never needs a holiday because it is always on standby. It claims to be an expert in standing still, which is technically true but not exactly impressive. Stand still and listen, the wind tells it better than me.

Killaleigh CastleCastle · 6.0 mi

Explorer Tom Killaleigh Castle in County Tipperary is playing hide-and-seek with me. The Vikings got so lost looking for it that they ended up founding a new village by mistake just to have somewhere to stand while they argued about the map. It’s basically a stone puzzle with no solution, sitting there smugly among farm buildings like it owns the place. Go before the tourists find out.

BorrisokaneHistoric town · 7.7 mi

Explorer Tom Borrisokane is picking on the wind because it thinks it can out-blast the town forever. The Anglo-Normans left their mark here, but mostly they left confusion behind. Ideal place to rehearse an excuse for being late.
