What is recorded here

Grave Yard in County Galway holds late 18th-, 19th- and 20th-century headstones beside a lost church, while a holy well waits ninety metres north. Its concrete wall and western entrance frame ordinary death, but the nearby water suggests people also believed life could return through grace.

In undulating pastureland. A church (GA108-102----) was located in its N end. Most of the headstones in this rectangular graveyard (c. 36m N-S; c. 33m E-W) date to the 19th and 20th centuries but some late 18th-century examples are also visible. It is enclosed by a concrete stone wall with an entrance at W. A holy well (GA108-101----) lay c. 90m to the N. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 17 February 2020
