What is recorded here

Associated with a medieval church (GA105-049002-), which occupies its SE end, this graveyard (c. 110m NW-SE; c. 96m NE-SW) is delimited by a well-built rubble wall with a cement cap. Most of the tombstones date to the 19th and 20th centuries and a number of graves are marked by finely wrought iron crosses.

Explorer Tom Ecclesiastical enclosure in Caherwalter, Farranalynch, Loughrea is straddling the main road like it owns the place. No visible walls, just vibes and a church nearby. It’s free, it’s odd, what more do you want?

Explorer Tom Rock House in Loughrea might be hiding contraband from a ridiculous smuggling story I made up. It’s got railings that look like they’re posing for a photo shoot. A handy spot to stretch your legs out wide.

IndicatedFairy fort / stone ringfort · 389 ydComputer-made picture

Explorer Tom Fairy fort or stone ringfort in Caherwalter has a wall so thick it could probably hold its own in a boxing match. It’s sitting on a low rise, pretending to be mysterious. Take a breath of that air, it’s older than your car.

Explorer Tom Hotel in Loughrea was once ruled by a goat that demanded premium accommodation. It predates the railway but still acts like the center of the town. Make up your own legend and I'll buy you a pint nearby.

Loughrea Railway StationRailway station · 421 yd

Explorer Tom Loughrea Railway Station had a matchmaker who worked there and paired off half the town before the train even arrived. It’s a Victorian brick beauty with slate roofs, looking a bit sleepy now. Bring your own legend, I’ll bring the tea.

Convent of MercySchool · 437 yd

Explorer Tom Convent of Mercy in Loughrea is an imposing school building that probably still feels like it’s being watched by strict nuns. It’s got tall windows and a serious attitude, which is perfect for keeping rowdy children in line. Bring a friend who needs to be told off.

Explorer Tom Raruddy Castle in Galway is a mystery wrapped in a bush. I bet after three pints, it’d spill every dark secret of the county. Have a look and decide if I was lying about the ghosts.
