Inside the broken limestone walls of Creggankeel Fort on Inisheer, narrow sleeping niches cut through the rock like shadows waiting for breath. The Grave of the Seven Daughters belongs to the female saint Moninne and dates from the fifth or sixth century, when Christian prayer first touched that old cashel. People may have laid daughters, novices or forgotten women in those dark holes, but the stones still keep the shape of seven lives removed from ordinary memory.
Grave of the Seven Daughters is a graveyard in County Galway, Ireland.
