Gortaphuill Fort is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Gortaphuill (athlone North By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a gentle ENE-facing slope as a D-shaped grass-covered area measuring 39 metres ENE-WSW and 37.5 metres NNW-SSE. A low earthen bank defines the perimeter, with slight traces of an outer fosse visible to the SW-W. A straight bank at SW may be original, while NE-SW field walls truncate and bisect the monument.
On a gentle ENE-facing slope. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 39m ENE-WSW; 37.5m NNW-SSE) defined by a low earthen bank (at ENE: Wth 5.5m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.6m), with slight traces of an outer fosse (Wth of base 2.4m; D 0.3m) SW-W. The straight bank (Wth 4.4m; int. H 1.35m; ext. H 0.55m) which may be original is at SW. The perimeter is truncated by a NE-SW field wall at NW and the monument is bisected by the remains of a NW-SE field wall. There is an entrance (Wth 1.3m) at SE, and the interior has NE-SW lazy-beds.
