Gormol rises to approximately 300 metres and is part of the rugged landscape of the Outer Hebrides. Its name, like many in the region, may derive from Old Norse, reflecting the area's Viking heritage. It matters as a geographical marker in a sparsely populated and historically significant archipelago.
