Goat's Hole Cave, Paviland is a coastal limestone cave formed through natural processes of erosion and dissolution typical of karst landscapes. It is historically significant as the site where the "Red Lady of Paviland" – a human skeleton stained with red ochre – was discovered in 1823, later identified as one of the earliest known anatomically modern human remains in Europe, dating to the Upper Palaeolithic period.
