Gloragh Wells

At the base of a steep S-facing slope. An underground stream flows out from a cleft in a rock at the base of the hill. It forms a large, shallow pool (D c. 0.08m) which flows off into a stream which joins the River Suir 100m to the S. A flat slab set on edge projects out from the E side of the hillslope forming a partial entrance to the mouth of the stream. The water coming from the mouth is fast-flowing. The entrance stone juts out into the mouth but is not resting on the bed. This is the location of the NE well. The area W of this is heavily overgrown with scrub and undergrowth as is the area to the S. It was not possible to locate the other 2 wells marked on the OS 6-inch map as part of the Gloragh complex.
